Our medical-licensed aesthetician at Prima Derma offers both Botox and Juvederm injections to address more permanent signs of aging. Botox treats lines and wrinkles that form due to repetitive muscle movement whereas Juvéderm is a filler that treats age-related loss of facial volume. Both products can be used in the same appointment to treat multiple areas of the face.
Please plan to schedule an appointment around two weeks following your injections as every person’s body accepts injections differently and tweaks may be recommended.
Botox is FDA-approved to temporarily make moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines look better in adults.
Botox® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved injectable treatment made from a purified protein, botulinum toxin type A. When injected into muscles that cause facial wrinkles, Botox works by blocking the release of acetylcholine, a chemical that signals muscles to contract. It’s been used medically for spastic disorders for many years prior to cosmetic use.
Please note that it’s recommended not to take any avoidable blood thinners (including aspirin or ibuprofen) up to 48 hours prior or alcohol up to 24 hours prior to injection to minimize chances of bruising.
